NYC Day One Thursday 27th September 2012

Day one Thursday

Arrived at JFK at around 16:30, had to wait on the plane for an hour as we were informed the terminal had been evacuated due to a security scare, found out later somebody had packed a fake hand grenade paperweight!

We then got the Airtrain and the Long Island Rail-road train into Penn Station $11.25 off peak and took around 45 minutes. We will never forget coming out of Penn Station and seeing all the lights and people and skyscrapers, hearing the car horns and noise and smelling the street carts cooking Hot Dogs and Gyros.

We walked up the couple of blocks to our Hotel and checked in, the room was great, big, we were on floor 12 which was the top as it was a small building to NYC standards! We had a view of the Empire State Building out of the window!

Our original plan was to try and go up the ESB that night but due to the delays on arrival it was a lot later than we had expected, we could not just go to bed though, not without a little walk around, we went out and got a dirty water Hot Dog and walked a little way up Broadway from the hotel at W35th Street to Times Square and across and back down 6th Avenue, got some drinks and sweets from a Duane Reade and then back to the hotel to try and get some sleep, it was all a bit of a blur that first night.
